Transvaginal Mesh Repair

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning in July 2011 about the complications associated with transvaginal mesh products. Patients who experience pain or other problems with transvaginal mesh may be forced to undergo repair surgeries in order to correct problems that occurred after the mesh implantation.

Vaginal mesh erosion is the most common side effect reported by transvaginal mesh users and often requires multiple surgeries to be corrected. Mesh erosion occurs when the transvaginal mesh implant wears through the vaginal tissue, shifting from its original position and coming into contact with surrounding tissue and organs.

Additional transvaginal mesh complications include infection, organ perforation, bleeding, and pain during sexual intercourse. The FDA has stated that even in cases where multiple repair surgeries are performed, it may still be impossible for doctors to fully treat complications caused by transvaginal mesh products.

If you or a loved one received transvaginal surgical mesh to treat SUI or POP and experienced side effects from the product, you may be eligible to file a lawsuit.
