Reglan Adverse Events More Than Doubled from 2006 to 2008

Recent data from the Food and Drug Administration’s Adverse Event Reporting System reveals that new cases of tardive dyskinesia or other movement disorders reported by users of Reglan (or its generic version, metoclopramide) more than doubled between 2006 and 2008, according to an analysis by Hissey Kientz, LLP. FDA orders stronger warnings for Reglan, metoclopramide

The Food and Drug Administration has ordered the manufacturers of Reglan and its generic form, metoclopramide, to add a “black-box” warning to the drugs’ labels. The new warning is designed to alert doctors and patients about the increased risk of a neurological disorder known as tardive dyskinesia that may result from taking the drugs.

Court rules that Cal. woman’s metoclopramide lawsuit can proceed

The California Supreme Court has ruled that a woman can proceed with a lawsuit filed against the manufacturer of the gastrointestinal drug Reglan. Elizabeth Conte filed a lawsuit against Wyeth Pharmaceuticals after developing a condition known as tardive dyskinesia after taking metoclopramide, the generic equivalent of Reglan.
