Ortho Evra Lawsuits
Hundreds of women have filed Ortho Evra lawsuits alleging that they suffered serious injuries after using the birth control patch. These women contend that Johnson & Johnson and Ortho-McNeil knew the danger of Ortho Evra side effects facing patients but failed to warn them of this risk compared with birth control pills.
Willing to settle
Lawyers for Johnson & Johnson say that they are willing to settle birth control patch lawsuits filed by women who have suffered deep vein thrombosis, heart attack, stroke or a pulmonary embolism after using Ortho Evra.
Because these conditions are so rare among the young women who typically use the birth control patch, Ortho Evra lawyers say that it would be relatively easy to prove that they were caused by using the patch.
Ortho Evra lawsuits keep coming
However, women are filing lawsuits over the patch faster than Johnson & Johnson can settle them. This trend may increase in the future as more women learn that injuries they have suffered may have been caused by Ortho Evra side effects. Although hundreds of lawsuits have been filed so far, experts estimate that the total number of cases may eventually reach into the thousands.
