The chemical company W.R. Grace has announced that it has reached a deal that could be worth $3 billion to settle the outstanding asbestos and mesothelioma lawsuits that have been filed against it. Thousands of individuals have alleged that asbestos-containing building materials or fire-protection products manufactured by Grace caused them to receive a lung cancer or mesothelioma diagnosis.

A jury in Baltimore has awarded $15.3 million verdict in a mesothelioma lawsuit filed by a former shipyard worker. The mesothelioma lawyers for George Linkus said that he developed the disease after he suffered asbestos exposure from products that he used on the job.

A new drug treatment is giving a brighter outlook to some patients who have received a mesothelioma diagnosis. According to a new study in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, many patients who have been given the drug vinflunine as treatment have seen improvement in their mesothelioma symptoms.

A group of seven charter schools in Tucson, Arizona have been fined a total of $67,000 for asbestos-related violations. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the schools were found to have violated federal regulations on how to deal with asbestos in their buildings.

The wife of a former auto manufacturing worker has filed a mesothelioma lawsuit against luxury car maker Jaguar. Shato Heer claims that he husband, Mohinder Singh Heer, developed mesothelioma symptoms as a result of asbestos exposure that occurred while working at the automaker’s Brown Lane plant in Coventry, England.
