Woman awarded $2.5M after HIV misdiagnosis
A jury in Massachusetts has awarded a woman who was mistakenly diagnosed with HIV and treated for the condition $2.5 million in her medical malpractice lawsuit against the doctor who treated her. Audrey Serrano alleged that because Dr. Kwan Lai failed to conduct tests to determine if she was HIV positive, she was forced to undergo years of treatment for the condition, leading to a number of additional medical problems.
