Ketek Side Effects
Ketek has recently been linked to heightened liver toxicity in patients who take the drug. Research suggests that Ketek could cause serious side effects, including liver injury, liver failure and possibly death. Patients take Ketek for mild sinus infections, viral infections and pneumonia, among other conditions.
Jaundice, hepatitis and liver disease
Cases of jaundice and liver disease have recently been linked to Ketek. The FDA recently completed a safety assessment on Ketek and has issued a label change. Symptoms of jaundice include yellowing of the skin and of the whites of the eyes.
Ketek liver failure
Many diseases of the liver are accompanied by jaundice. Hepatitis, cirrhosis, hemochromatosis, and several other cancers, syndromes and diseases originate in the liver.
Hepatitis, or inflammation of the liver, is caused by various viruses, poisons, autoimmunity problems and hereditary conditions. It has also been associated with the use of the antibiotic Ketek.
Cardiac palpitations and arrhythmia
Cardiac palpitations or arrhythmia have been linked to the use of Ketek. Arrythmia is a condition in which the muscle contraction of the heart is faster or slower than normal. Some arrhythmias are life-threatening, and can cause cardiac arrest and sudden death.
