Researchers at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center say that a recent decline in new breast cancer cases may be due to the large number of women who have stopped using hormone replacement therapy. In 2002, the National Institutes of Health warned that taking these treatments to ease the symptoms of menopause can increase a woman’s risk of hormone replacement therapy side effects such as breast cancer, heart disease and stroke. Popular hormone replacement therapy drugs include Premarin, Progestin and Prempro.
