Deaths prompt Fleet Phospho-soda warning update

In December 2006, the French Health Products Safety Agency (Afssaps) issued new label changes for Fleet Phospho-soda bowel cleansing preparation following reports of severe and sometimes fatal electrolyte abnormalities and kidney damage. An Afssaps spokeswoman stated that over a course of 10 years, approximately 20 people had died due to severe electrolyte abnormalities after using this product. More »

Researchers are investigating new methods for pre-colonoscopy bowel cleansing following the recall of Fleet’s Phospho-soda products. The C.B. Fleet Company recalled the oral sodium phosphate solutions “Fleet Phospho-soda” and “Fleet Phospho-soda EZ-Prep Bowel Cleansing System” in December 2008 after they were linked to a form of permanent kidney damage. Hissey Kientz LLP Urges Patients To Heed FDA Warning About Phospho-soda Products

The law firm of Hissey Kientz, LLP is warning consumers to immediately stop using Fleet Phospho-soda products for any purpose, including bowel cleansing prior to a colonoscopy. In December 2008 the Food and Drug Administration warned that Phospho-soda products could cause irreversible damage to the kidneys. The C.B. More than 550 consumers plan to file Phospho-soda lawsuits against Fleet

A status brief filed by plaintiffs in federal court last week indicate that about 550 consumers have either filed or intend to file lawsuits against the manufacturer of recalled Fleet Phospho-soda products. C.B. Fleet Co. recalled its “Fleet Phospho-soda” and “Fleet Phospho-soda EZ-Prep Bowel Cleansing System” oral sodium phosphate solutions (OSPs) in December 2008 after they were linked to an increased risk of a type of kidney damage known as acute phosphate nephropathy. VA man settles Phospho-soda lawsuit against Fleet

A Virginia man has reached a settlement agreement in his Phospho-soda lawsuit against C.B. Fleet Co., his attorney has announced. Roy Main filed a lawsuit against Fleet after he suffered kidney failure a week after using the company’s “Fleet Phospho-soda Accu-prep” bowel cleansing solution. Fleet orders Phospho-soda recall over kidney risks

C.B. Fleet Company has issued a recall notice for its “Fleet Phospho-soda” and “Fleet Phospho-soda EZ-Prep Bowel Cleansing System” products due to the danger they could pose to the kidneys when used for bowel cleansing. The Fleet Phospho-soda recall comes just four days after the Food and Drug Administration issued a safety alert which linked the products to a kidney disorder which could cause acute renal failure. FDA issues health alert for Fleet Phospho Soda

The Food and Drug Administration has issued a health alert for Fleet’s Phospho-soda products after they were linked to a type of kidney damage that could lead to acute kidney failure. The agency said that the company’s bowel cleansing solutions “Fleet Phospho-soda” and “Fleet Phospho-soda EZ-Prep Bowel Cleansing System” should be available by prescription only due to their link with a condition known as acute phosphate nephropathy.
