Digitek Side Effects

Patients who receive the improperly manufactured tablets involved in the Digitek recall may be at risk of serious and potentially deadly side effects. Because these tablets were manufactured at double their normal thickness, they carry twice the normal dose of digitalis, the active ingredient in the drug. This can place patients in danger of digitalis toxicity, which may cause serious Digitek side effects.

Although Digitek is designed to treat heart problems, overexposure to the drug can worsen the problems that it is intended to treat. Patients who suffer from digitalis toxicity may experience an irregular heartbeat, which can lead to heart palpitations, dizziness and shortness of breath.
Although Digitek is designed to treat heart conditions, overexposure to the drug can worsen the problems that it is intended to treat, leading to heart attack, stroke or death.

In the most serious cases, patients may experience a heart attack or stroke as a result of the side effects of Digitek, which can be fatal. Patients suffering from kidney failure may be especially at risk of digitalis toxicity from the improperly manufactured tablets. Other Digitek side effects include low blood pressure, changes in vision and stomach complaints (nausea, diarrhea and vomiting).

Several patients who were seriously injured after suffering digitalis toxicity have filed Digitek lawsuits against Actavis Totowa, the manufacturer of the drug, and its two distributors, Mylan Pharmaceuticals and UDL Laboratories. Digitek lawyers for these patients have argued that the drug is dangerous and defective.
