Celebrex Side Effects

Celebrex has been linked to an increased risk of heart attack or stroke—a risk shared by all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), other than aspirin.

The FDA has requested that the labeling for all NSAIDs, including Celebrex, be revised to include a warning that makes clear the increased risk of cardiovascular events, plus the risk of serious stomach bleeding.

Relief of osteoarthritis symptoms
Celebrex is used to relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, alleviate acute pain, and treat painful menstrual cycles.

Celebrex and other NSAIDs can cause serious problems such as bleeding stomach ulcers. Although the chance of this problem increases the longer you take Celebrex, it can happen suddenly.

Liver damage

Celebrex can also cause liver damage. Some of the warning signs are nausea, vomiting, tiredness, loss of appetite, itching, yellowing of skin or eyes, flu-like symptoms and dark urine.

It can lead to kidney problems, including sudden kidney failure or aggravation of pre-existing kidney problems. Celebrex can also cause fluid retention and swelling. This can be a serious problem if you have high blood pressure or heart failure.
