Study links eye infections to AMO Complete

The researchers who first warned health officials of a possible link between AMO Complete and the eye infection Acanthamoeba keratitis now say there is even better evidence linking the two. A new report by scientists at the University of Illinois at Chicago found that using AMO Complete is “strongly associated” with Acanthamoeba keratitis infections.

Woman files lawsuit against AMO Complete maker

A Texas woman has filed a lawsuit in California against the manufacturer of AMO Complete Moisture Plus Multi Purpose contact lens solution. Debbie Wooten alleges that using AMO Complete caused her to develop the eye infection Acanthamoeba keratitis and that its manufacture, Advanced Medical Optics, was negligent for failing to warn consumers of their risk for this condition.

Calif. woman files AMO Complete lawsuit

A California woman has filed a lawsuit seeking class action status against the manufacturer of AMO Complete. Nicole Lazar’s contact lens solution lawsuit on behalf of AMO Complete users is seeking a refund for money spent on the solution and for replacing it after it was recalled.

Lawsuit filed over AMO Complete

A California man has filed a lawsuit claiming that he developed a serious form of eye infection after using Advance Medical Optics' Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose contact lens solution. AMO Complete was recalled by the company in May 2007 after an increased number of users developed the eye infection Acanthamoeba keratitis.

AMO Complete recall follows on heels of ReNu

Optometrists group in agreement with recall of AMO Complete

The American Optometric Association has come out in support of Advanced Medical Optics’ recent recall of its Complete Moisture Plus brand contact lens solution. No actual cause has yet been determined, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration have begun to examine reports that the corneal bacterial infection known as Acanthamoeba keratitis may be linked to use of AMO Complete.

Acanthamoeba keratitis infections linked with contact lens solution

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration have linked an outbreak of the Acanthamoeba keratitis eye infection and a popular soft contact lens solution known as AMO Complete.

The AK infection, caused by a microscopic organism found almost everywhere, can result in permanent visual damage or even blindness. More than 80% of American cases of this infection occur in people who wear contact lenses, with a prevalence rate of about one to two cases per million.
