FDA panel calls for tougher contact lens warnings
A Food and Drug Administration panel of eye experts has backed a series of stronger warnings designed to prevent eye infections among contact lens wearers. The proposed warnings came about as a result of two high profile infection outbreaks that occurred in 2006 and 2007.

The law firm of Hissey Kientz has announced that it has filed a lawsuit in California state court against Advanced Medical Optics on behalf of three women who suffered eye damage and vision loss as a result of a severe eye infection (Case No. 07CC01413, 07CC01414, 07CC01415). Many patients still using AMO Complete despite recall
The attorney for 10 patients who have filed AMO Complete lawsuits against Advanced Medical Optics has accused the company of failing to take necessary steps to publicize the AMO Complete recall. Advanced Medical Optics was forced to issue the contact lens solution recall for AMO Complete in May after it was linked to a serious type of eye infection, Acanthamoeba keratitis.
Hissey Kientz, LLP Files Lawsuit Against AMO Complete Manufacturer
The law office of Hissey Kientz announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Advanced Medical Optics on behalf of a 71-year-old woman who suffered eye damage and vision loss as a result of a severe eye infection (Case No. 07CC07060). The lawsuit, filed in the Orange County Superior Court of California, alleges that the victim’s use of Advanced Medical Optics’ Complete Moisture Plus contact lens solution (AMO Complete) caused her to develop the eye infection Acanthamoeba keratitis. Patients file contact solution lawsuit against AMO
A group of seven contact lens wearers has filed a lawsuit against Advanced Medical Optics. The lawsuit alleges that the company’s AMO Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose contact lens solution caused them to develop the eye infection Acanthamoeba keratitis. The patients say that they have suffered severe vision loss as a result of their eye infections.

The Food and Drug Administration says that many consumers may still be using Advanced Medical Optics' Complete Moisture Plus contact lens solution in spite of the AMO Complete recall that was issued in May. The company recalled the contact lens solution after it was linked to a nationwide outbreak of the eye infection Acanthamoeba keratitis.
Four women file AMO Complete lawsuits
Four women have filed AMO Complete lawsuits in California against the manufacturer of the contact lens solution. The women allege that using Advanced Medical Optics Complete Moisture Plus contact lens solution caused them to develop a severe eye infection, causing damage to their eyesight.
Study finds that AMO Complete users face much greater infection risk
A recent study of the link between AMO Complete Moisture Plus contact lens solution and the eye infection Acanthamoeba keratitis has found that patients who used the product are 16 times more likely to develop an infection than other soft contacts wearers. Advanced Medical Optics, the manufacturer of the solution, issued an AMO Complete recall in May after the contacts solution was linked to an outbreak of patients who developed Acanthamoeba keratitis symptoms.
Despite doctor advice, ‘no rub’ solutions still on sale
Advanced Medical Optics says that it will begin selling a “rub and rinse” contact lens solution later this year to replace its “no rub” Complete Moisture Plus solution. AMO Complete was recalled by the company in May after it was linked to an outbreak of the eye infection Acanthamoeba keratitis.
Saipan issues notice of AMO Compete recall
Health officials in Saipan have issued a recall notice for a contact lens solution that is believed to a recent eye infection outbreak. The Public Health Department’s notice concerning AMO Complete was issued after its manufacture, Advanced Medical Optics, issued the contact lens solution recall in May.
