David L. Friend is a 1992 graduate of the University of Houston, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. He then went on to earn his law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston in 1996. While in law school, David had the distinction of serving as assistant chief articles editor of the South Texas Law Review and was a member of the Board of Advocates. He also clerked for the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston.

David worked as an attorney in Houston before joining Hissey Kientz, LLP in October 2006.  He is a member of the Texas Bar Association and the American Association of Justice, and is licensed to practice in the states of Texas and Pennsylvania. He is also a Certified Mediator.

For over a decade, David has worked to protect the rights of injured individuals and their families. He focuses his practice on pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, handling cases in locations coast to coast.

David currently works with clients who have been affected by birth defects from Paxil or Zoloft, the Kugel hernia patch, and PPH caused by the use of diet drugs. David was a member of the plaintiff’s executive committee for Ortho Evra and has also participated in cases regarding Guidant and Medtronic heart devices, Bextra and Celebrex, ReNu with MoistureLoc, AMO Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose, Zyprexa, and Seroquel.
